Health Research in Nunavut: Special Considerations for Remote Data Collection

The Nunavut Research Institute has released a new document entitled "Health Research in Nunavut: Special Considerations for Remote Data Collection".  This document provides guidance for researchers who plan to collect data remotely from or about Nunavummiut using either of these methods:

Medical Chart Review at Tertiary Care Centres
Survey-based Research originating from outside of Nunavut

The guidelines include instructions for license applicants on how to obtain a waiver of consent from NRI to utilize patient health records for research purposes.  Although the guidelines are intended primarily for health research, they also apply to social sciences research activities that employ remote survey techniques to gather information from Nunavummiut

The guidelines are also available in Inuktitut.
